The Governor of Odesa oblast Maksim Stepanov was appointed artist Alexander Roitburd Director of the Odessa art Museum. It is reported by the Duma.
According to the report, Roitburd has signed a five-year contract.
Stepanov referred to the special law on culture, which provides that an institution of culture, regardless of the state or municipal headed by the winner of the contest. “To hold a competition and to implement its results is impossible, that’s why I made this decision”, – said the Governor.
The staff of the Museum was made by Routbort, which, according to the publication, said that is not going to hang in the Museum of “pornography”. According to him, the Museum will have a family and tourist attraction. The new leader believes that first of all you need to do repairs of the Potocki Palace, where the Museum is, to fix the leak in the roof, set the climate control to make normal lighting.
It is reported that the Museum will create public and Board of Trustees, who are prominent figures of culture.
Also Roitburd has not excluded that will be built the new building of the Museum.
March 14, Odessa regional Council refused to appoint Roitburd Director of the Odessa art Museum, despite its victory in the competition.
The appointment was made by the deputies from the Opposition bloc, which was outraged that the artist called the events of 2 may 2014 “victory day”. Deputy Vitaly Sautenkov stated that these alleged “dishonest” and “has sins in the past.” In addition, he accused the artist of using foul language, although he could not deny his talent.
