Sixteen citizens who have made significant achievements in studies, sports, art today hand over passports
On August 23 in Ukraine for the 13th time, the Day of State flag.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will take part in the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag on Sophia square. Also a ceremonial flag-raising will take place near the building of Kyiv city state administration and city areas. This is stated in the disposal of the KSCA on the holiday action to the Day of State Flag.
Sixteen citizens who have made significant achievements in studies, sports, arts today will also be handed their first passport. The celebration will also be held near the building of the KSCA. In the evening on the capital’s Sophia square will host a concert on the occasion.
The day of the State flag was approved as an official holiday by the decree of the then President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma on August 23, 2004. On this day in 1991, in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine made the blue and yellow flag.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the resolution “On the flag of Ukraine” of 18 September 1991, which was approved prior to the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine to allow in Protocol events, use the blue and yellow flag. The reason for this – the current at the time the Constitution of the USSR, where the state flag was set red and sky blue.
The decree of 28 January 1992 “On the State flag of Ukraine,” Rada approved a national symbol rectangular cloth consisting of two equal width horizontal bands of blue top, yellow bottom, with the width of the flag to its length 2:3.
In the Constitution of Ukraine 1996, article 20, on a legal level state flag was adopted flag of two equal horizontal bands of blue and yellow.
