Two gold, one silver, four bronze medals and first place in number of medals among the 12 participating countries – to this harvest, our team returned from the fourth world Cup stage, held last weekend in the Chilean capital.

The most expensive collection of awards at the local velodrome raised 29-year-old Lyubov Basova from Lugansk who won first individual sprint, then the team – along with Elena Starikova, and at the end of the competition, took the bronze in Carine.

Twice on the podium in Santiago was raised by the leader of the Russian team Andrey Vinokurov, however, he took the lead in the world Cup standings. One time – the group rate Gladysh Roman and Tetyana Klimchenko.

Basov drove qualifying race of the sprint at 200 meters from the course with a fourth 10,893, which, however, was a new record of Ukraine. For comparison, the leader of Korean girl Lee Hye-Jin were 10,810 and the second representative of Ukraine in this kind of program 21-year-old girl from the town of Elena Starikova showed the sixth time – 10,929. 1/8 Basov ahead has participated in the world Championships, but stars from the sky straight Japanese girl, Kayano the Der.

But in the quarterfinals she got a much more formidable rival of the twelve-time medalist in world forums Simon Krupeckaite. Moreover, the first arrival came to the Lithuanian athlete and the second and third remained for a pupil of Sergei Bazin. The two races had the 29-year-old racer from Lugansk to prove their superiority in the semifinals of the leader skill Korean Lee Hyo Jin. Confidently without the third exit at the start Basov was removed from the agenda the question about the winner of the world Cup in Chile, leaving no chance to Russian Darya Shmeleva in the quarterfinals to block the path of other Ukrainian Starikova.

Together Basov and Starikov rose to the highest step of the podium in the team sprint. Showing the best time in qualifying 33,123, they in the first round were the only couple who went from 33 seconds (32,866). In the final Ukrainka confidence ahead of the Chinese riders Bao Sanctu and Yifan, representing at this stage the team Holy Brother (32,512 against 33,274).

Note that for the 2015/16 season Basov and Starikov already tried to play together in the team sprint, but it never made it to the podium of the world Cup. Later Sergey Bazin, it was decided that his trust was better to focus on individual disciplines, especially because it was ahead of the Rio Olympics in 2016. It’s great that this season, the tandem was able to resume and he, apparently, became even stronger.

At the end of the competition in Santiago Love Basov completed her collection of achievements third place in Carine – discipline, which, recall, earned her bronze last Championships in Berlin. Kvalifitsirovani to the finals with the last of the third place, it nevertheless managed to hold on for the podium, losing only to Madalin Godbey of the U.S. and Natasha Hansen from New Zealand.

As the leader of our women’s team took medals in two personal sprint program competition at the world Cup in Santiago Andrey Vinokurov. 35-year-old Kharkov was launched in Carine not entirely successful. Finishing in his qualifying race only fourth after the Japanese Utah, Wakimoto, the newly minted Russian and in the recent past, the famous Australian rider Shane Perkins and the Argentine Leandro Botasso, ward Elena Golubeva and Yevgeny Bolibrukh was forced to undergo the test of “consolation” from which you’ll give him his due, came out the winner, leaving behind including the ex-compatriot Sergey Omelchenko, now competing for Azerbaijan. This success allowed Vinokurov to become a leader of world Cup standings in the sprint, where to the stage in Santiago on a pedestal he did not rise, and in Karina, where he already had one award – silver in Manchester.

If the number of Cup medals for the Bass after the success in Chile has reached 23, while Vinokourov – 18, Tetyana Klimchenko only the fourth time in his career stood on the podium of this prestigious series of competitions under the auspices of the UCI. For the first time 23-year-old athlete from Sochi was a success in January 2013 in team pursuit in Mexico, the second and third times awards brought her scratch bronze Manchester-2013 and gold Los Angeles-2017.

In Santiago on a pedestal ward Vyacheslav Rudko and Orestes Tycko rose in the Olympic program, the Omnium, which consists of four disciplines. Klimchenko began their medals with victories in the scratch. Earning along with Wang Xiaofei round remote advantages, she still was ahead at the finish representative of China. But if the latter in the following discipline – tempo-race, was only eighth, Klimchenko took the second place after the Japanese Yumi Kajihara. Confirmed Ukrainka your class and a good level of preparedness and fourth place in the elimination race.

Before the start of the final form of the program our athlete took second place, trailing by two points from the above mentioned Kajihara (114 vs 112). Four opponents were in the range of fourteen to sixteen points from it. But a representative of the Country of the rising sun already on the first three intermediate sprints has made it clear that it wants in a champion. However, their willingness to fight for the podium and said the 19-year-old ELISA Balsamo of Italy. The current European champion in the team pursuit to the equator of the race caught up with Klimchenko. It made our athlete to become active, but to compete with the Italian it has failed, but managed to secure a bronze position with 119 points and nine ahead of Wang Xiaofei.

For Roman Gladysh bronze in the Omnium at the world Cup in Santiago is the second career award of the world Cup after the third place in discipline – scratch in Cambridge-2015. 22-year-old resident of the city, showing the seventh result in the scratch, the sixth in the tempo race and winning the race shootout, came out at the start of the final form of the program – group race, having a third total points (98) after Japanese eya Hashimoto (114) and Daniel Holloway from the United States (112).

Unlike the women’s Omnium, where no one in the last discipline is not able to earn the circle of remote benefits, in the men’s competition from five riders managed to escape from the group, in particular the above mentioned trio of leaders, including our Roman Gladysh. In fairness, we note that the Austrian Andreas Graf did it twice. But even forty points did not allow him to intervene in the fight for the medals too much he lost after the first three types. But the German Maximilian Beyer, lagged before the start group of the race from the Ukrainians only two points, thus made a serious bid on a pedestal, but rather to the third position Gladysh. The Japanese and Americans by that time managed to break away and turn the dispute over the gold in a duel.

Finished Gladysh and Bayer with the same amount of points is 128. And only the best position at the last intermediate finish left the bronze with the representative of Ukraine.
