Ukraine opened a Consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan

In the Iraqi city of Erbil, capital of Iraqi Kurdistan region, opened the honorary Consulate of Ukraine. About this in his Twitter said the head of the Department of foreign Affairs of the Kurdish regional government, Falah Mustafa.

“I warmly welcome the opening of honorary consulates of Ukraine and Sri Lanka in Erbil, expecting further improvement of our relations”, – he wrote.

Iraqi Kurdistan – Kurdish political entity in Iraq, which, according to the current Constitution, has the status of a wide autonomy.

In July 2017, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Iraqi authorities to prevent the holding of local Kurds a referendum on independence, scheduled for September 25 this year.
