The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has assigned abducted and tortured in 2014 invaders in the Crimea, the Crimean Tatar activist Reetu Ametova the title of Hero of Ukraine. About this Poroshenko said during the evening-Requiem in memory of victims of genocide of Crimean Tatar people at the National Opera of Ukraine, reports UNIAN.
“He passed away at the age of 39. Reshat Ametov, boldly came out to protest against the “green people”. He intended to go volunteer in the Ukrainian army to protect Ukraine’s territorial integrity. A group of unknown Russian-occupied Crimea kidnapped him in front of dozens of people and in front of the cameras. Two weeks later he was found tortured to death. Just the thought of last minute Reshat causes terror and pain. And his courage great respect” – said the President.
Recall, according to the Majlis, Reshat Ametov disappeared on March 3, 2014 in the Crimea. His body with signs of torture found on March 15 in a field near the village of Strawberry Belogorsk district. In ametova left three small children.
