The war in Syria: Tillerson said Russia’s special responsibility
Uncategorized July 6, 2017Russia has a special responsibility to help in resolving the conflict in Syria. This was before the G20 summit in Hamburg , said U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson.
“The United States believes that Russia, as the guarantor of the Assad regime and the first who entered into the Syrian conflict, is responsible for meeting the needs of the Syrian people and that neither side of the conflict is not occupied illegally the areas liberated from ISIS or other terrorist groups. Russia is also obliged to prevent the use of any chemical weapons by the Assad regime”, – he said.
It also allows for the possibility of creating together with Russia mechanisms for the settlement of the conflict, including a no-fly zone, the deployment of observers for a ceasefire and coordinated humanitarian assistance. He noted that the coalition on the path to liberation of Raqqa and Russia for its part should make every effort to completely destroy the Islamists and give them the opportunity to recover.
4 July 2017, the US-backed units within the armed Alliance of the Syrian opposition and the Kurdish forces of the democratic Forces of Syria, stormed the unofficial capital of the terrorist group Islamic state in Syria’s Raqqa and entered the old part of the city.
