The US will return to the issue of the return of Crimea to Ukraine – Tillerson
Uncategorized December 13, 2017The United States will return to the issue of temporarily occupied Crimea, now a priority issue for them is the cessation of violence in Eastern Ukraine. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson on Tuesday, December 12, speaking at the Atlantic Council in Washington, reports Deutsche Welle.
“We will return to the Crimea. I know that President Putin gave to understand that this is to be discussed at the negotiating table will not. At some point will be, but now we want to stop the violence in Eastern Ukraine. Let’s see if we can resolve,” said Tillerson.
He recalled that the basis for the imposition of U.S. sanctions against Russia was the “Russian invasion” to Ukraine.
According to him, restrictive measures will act to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
7 Aug Tillerson saidthat Putin’s regime demonstrates “some willingness” to negotiate resolution of the hybrid provoked by aggression of Russia the situation in the Donbass.
Russia has occupied the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 2014 year. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially declared on 20 February 2014 beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. Key international organizations, including the UN General Assembly has condemned Russia’s actions and called the annexation and occupation of Crimea illegal. Against Russia were imposed economic sanctions. For the implementation by Moscow of the so-called elections with the participation of the Crimea in 2016-m to year the Parliament of Ukraine recognized the Russian state Duma is illegitimate.
