U.S. authorities have charged a Ukrainian hacker and several others in connection with their alleged role in the scheme of exchange of non-public corporate income earned by penetrating into the Commission’s database at the securities and exchange Commission (SEC).
In September 2017, the Commission announced the discovery of the hacking of its corporate the Edgar database used by publicly traded companies, managing capital, Yevropravda reported with reference to Reuters.
Authorities said that 27-year-old Alexander Eremenko from Kiev and his other accomplices received thousands of “test orders”, including approximately 157 ads for income, pick Edgar via Lithuanian server, and then shared them with the network of traders.
According to the SEC, these traders consisting of eight people and companies in the United States, Russia and Ukraine, and then received an illegal profit of more than $4.1 million, trading hacked information in the period from may to October 2016.

In the indictment on 16 counts filed in U.S. district court in Newark, new Jersey, U.S. Department of justice accused Eremenko and Artem Radchenko, another Ukrainian citizen, who, according to him, attracted traders, illegal activity, computer fraud and other crimes.
The SEC filed the appropriate civil charges against Eremenko and another eight suspects.
According to court documents, Eremenko is on the loose after submitting him in 2015 of the criminal charges in the theft of more than 150 000 private corporate press releases from distributors, Business Wire, Marketwired and PR Newswire.
Earlier UNIAN reported that the website of the Ministry of the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine on 2 and 3 November had been hacked.
