The Ukrainians are losing annual budget of Odessa for violence against women
Uncategorized December 22, 2017KIEV. 22 Dec. UNN. Ukrainian society is losing $ 208 million per year due to violence against women, which is equal to the annual budget of Odessa. This is stated in the study “the Economic cost of violence against women in Ukraine” 2016-2017 conducted by UNFPA (the representation of UN Fund of population in Ukraine) “Ukrainian center of social reforms”, reports UNN.
“The total economic losses to society through the violence against women reach 208 million dollars per year or the annual budget of the city of Odessa (0.23% of GDP in 2015),” – said in the text of the study.
It is noted that economic losses from violence against women are not only victims, but also employers and taxpayers, insurance funds, budgets of various levels and the whole economy.
Recall that in Ukraine every year 600 women die in the violence.
