The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft resolution on the election of the President of the Russian Federation in the Crimea. Document 8168 offers to recognize the illegal voting in Crimea and noted that this casts doubt on the legitimacy of the election results in General.
The authors of the project – a group of MPs, including Irina Lutsenko, Volodymyr Aryev, Irina Gerashchenko, Sergey Kunitsyn.
The draft resolution notes that the results of illegal voting in Crimea null and void and without any legal consequences. However, they are “significantly distort the results of voting on presidential elections of the Russian Federation in General, naturally calling into question their legitimacy”.
MPs propose to call on the international community to impose sanctions against the organizers of the elections in Crimea, as well as the violators of fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual.
The foreign Ministry said today that oppose the recognition of illegitimate elections of the President of the Russian Federation as a whole, but support the decision with respect to elections on the territory of the occupied Crimea.
