Juan Guido

Asamblea Nacional, República Bolivariana de Venezuela

Scheduled for January 10, the entry of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in office for new terms is a usurpation of power. This was stated by the chosen one on Saturday, January 5, head of the National Assembly (Parliament) of the country Juan Guido, reports Reuters.

Guido also stated the need of creating the country’s transitional Federal government. According to him, if Maduro refuses to leave the post of head of state, it is necessary to “unite and launch a joint action aimed at the mobilization of the people, the National Assembly, the armed forces of Venezuela and the international community in order that he [Maduro] was not of choice” (quoted by TASS).

It is expected that on 10 January, Maduro will take the oath again and will take office as President of Venezuela. Earlier, the head of the National constituent Assembly Diosdado Cabello said that the ceremony will be held not in Parliament, and the Supreme court, as MPs have lost their legitimacy. New elections to the National Assembly, the authorities intend to hold in 2020, writes RBC.

Meanwhile, the Deputy head of the press service of US state Department Robert Palladino said the United States believes the National Assembly of Venezuela the only legitimate institution in the country and welcomed the entry of Guido office.

“Today, the United States welcomes the entry into office of members of the new leadership of the National Assembly of Venezuela headed by Deputy Juan Guido. The national Assembly is the only legitimate and the last remaining democratically elected institutions, which truly represents the will of the Venezuelan people,” said Palladino.

The lack of recognition of the new presidential term Maduro, said the participants of the so-called Group of Lima, who called the Venezuelan leader to withdraw from the inauguration and hand over Executive power to the Parliament.

We will remind, Nicolas Maduro won the presidential elections in may last year, scoring 68% of the votes of those 46% of voters who came to polling stations. Local opposition accused the authorities of violations. The results of these elections do not recognize the power of the United States, Argentina, Chile and some other countries.
