The murder of an employee of the Odessa prison: ex-chief announced suspicion

ODESSA-KIEV. 31 Oct. UNN. Odessa oblast Prosecutor’s office investigates criminal proceedings upon office negligence of officials of the Odessa remand prison. This was during a briefing the Prosecutor of the Odessa region, reports the correspondent of UNN.

“The neglect of the duties of penitentiary institutions resulted in inadequate organization of service of subordinate employees and improper control over observance of regime requirements by object”, — said during a briefing the Prosecutor of Odessa region Oleg Zhuchenko.

According to him, this allowed the prisoner, which is contrary to the requirements of pre-trial detention for a long time lived on the economic court of the prison, could freely carry out their criminal intentions and to take the life of the employee of penal institution.

In the framework of criminal proceedings on October 31, investigators of the Prosecutor’s office of Odessa region reported about suspicion to the former head of State institution “Odessa institution of execution of sentences (No. 21)” official negligence, i.e. non-performance of official duties due to careless attitude to them, entailed heavy consequences (part 2 of article 367 of the criminal code of Ukraine).

Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings proceeds.

We will remind, the man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, while in prison of Odessa, killed an employee of the institution.

He later pleaded guilty.
