The media learned about the start of “a secret plan”, Guido after a call from Washington
KIEV. 26 Jan. UNN. The leader of the Venezuelan opposition Juan Guido declared himself acting head of state after a call by Vice-President Michael Pence, who assured him of the support of Washington. This was reported by the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, reports UNN.

According to the newspaper, “Pence promised that the US will support it (Guido) if he intercepts the reins of government of Nicolas Maduro, referring to one of the provisions of the Constitution of this South American country.”

During the winter holidays, the U.S. Secretary of state Michael Pompeo met with representatives of the States — allies of Washington and discussed with them the situation in Venezuela. On 2 January he met with the Brazilian and Colombian colleagues. In addition, at the meeting with the President of Colombia Ivan Duque Pompeo allegedly hinted at what the intentions for Venezuela are from Washington.
Pompeo January 10, spoke with Guido promised “close cooperation on the way to a democratic future for Venezuela”. In this January 15, the employees of the US administration have taken steps to coordinate the plan with allies and with Guido. Pompeo, in particular, had a conversation with the head of the canadian foreign Minister Christ Freeland, and later was called again, Guido and assured him of US support.
As the newspaper notes, the U.S. is currently closely monitoring developments in Venezuela. American officials, in particular, believe that part of the military in the Republic support the opposition. The US administration is also trying to establish a connection with representatives of the Venezuelan business.
