And the new Prime Minister, Maia Sandu warned that the leaders of the PDM and especially its leader, the oligarch Vladimir plahotniuc, will have to face the law on charges of usurpation of power in the country.

On these ships, the leaders of the democratic party left the state, fearing prosecution and not waiting for the support of the US (earlier it was reported that the decision to dismiss the PDM was made after a visit to the PDM office of the US Ambassador in Chisinau Derek Hogan).

He stated this on Friday at a briefing in Parliament. “I want to congratulate you with a victory, though symbolic, on the usurpers of power. The democratic party and its leader, Vladimir plahotniuc, who seized power in the country, conceded defeat. But this is not the final victory,” the President warned.
The EU, Russia, USA, UK and several other countries expressed support for the Parliament of Moldova and the decisions taken by the deputies.

In early 2019, the interior Ministry announced that it had received evidence of the involvement of the Chairman of the Democratic party of Moldova, Vladimir Plahotniuc to organized crime and the withdrawal from Russia of tens of billions of rubles.
“It is established that citizens of Russia and Moldova established the international criminal community to commit large-scale illegal currency transactions. The organizers of the illegal activity was having the citizenship of the Russian Federation Vladimir plahotniuc and Veaceslav Platon”, – reported on the official website of the interior Ministry.
According to investigators, “during the 2013-2014 members of the criminal community on false grounds and false documents were transferred from the accounts of legal entities controlled by them in OAO “Bank “Western” and JSC “Russian Land Bank” funds in a foreign currency on accounts of non-residents of BC Moldindconbank S. A. and other foreign organizations under the pretext of sale of foreign currency”. Total for the Russian Federation “was derived more than 37 billion rubles.”

Vladimir plahotniuc in 1995 became the founder of the Moldovan-American financial group Angels. He later headed the oil company Petrom Moldova and commercial Bank Victoriabank. In 2010, the businessman is the Democratic party of the country.
In January 2016 plahotniuc was promoted to the post of Prime Minister of Moldova, with the support of his party, but his candidacy was rejected by the President of the country Nikolay Timofti. In December 2016 plahotniuc became Chairman of the Democratic party.
At the end of 2017 Vladimir plahotniuc, who is the leader of the Democratic party of Moldova, controlling until recently the country’s Parliament, was arrested in absentia Basmanny district court of Moscow on the case of attempted murder.
