The ICRC President called for the creation of a road map on the issue of release of prisoners

KIEV. March 10. UNN. Create a road map on which to decide the issue of release of prisoners in the Donbass was necessary. This was during a press conference on Friday in Kiev, said the President of the International Committee of the red cross Peter Maurer, the correspondent of UNN.

“Regarding the issue of exchange of prisoners, it is quite complex question. It is necessary to create a road map for how the problem will be solved. Very often, this issue becomes problematic in terms of data exchange from one side to the other side. Here you need to follow legislative provisions that may be in conflict,” said Mr Maurer.

He noted that so far it is not known exactly how many prisoners located on the territory of ORDA.

According to him, he suggested to both sides that “we should accelerate the identification of missing persons.”

“The ICRC is ready to carry out the role of the facilitator, who can establish contacts with both sides of the line of collision,” added the ICRC President.

“We hope this issue will be resolved in the near future,” he said.

We will remind, President Maurer noted that the Red Cross is ready to help find people in the Donbas.
