The head of the environmental organization detained for extortion

KIEV. The 4th of July. UNN. On suspicion of extorting a monthly “tribute” the Prosecutor’s office of Kiev region detained the Chairman of the Ukrainian public organization “Bureau for the protection of the environment and health.” About it UNN reported in a press-service of Prosecutor’s office of Kiev region.

It is established that the detainee required the company to pay him weekly money. The amount depended on the volume produced by the enterprise products, according to preliminary estimates of the “tribute” amounted to about 200 thousand hryvnia per month. In addition, the Chairman of the public organization, in case of failure of the company to pay him money threatened to injure and destroy the property of the company.

When the transmission 34 thousand hryvnia, the attacker detained by law enforcement agencies.

Urgent investigative actions, the issue of the notice of suspicion the detainee, as well as the election of a preventive measure.

For the said criminal offence an attacker threatens penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
