European Parliament urged to continue funding research of properties of medical marijuana. This is stated in the message on the website of the European Parliament.
On 13 February members of the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

The document States that research and innovation in the field of medical cannabis should be expanded and properly funded, while the effective medicines based on cannabis should be covered by health insurance schemes.
Deputies noted that cannabis and cannabinoids may have a therapeutic effect to stimulate appetite and to ease the life of people suffering from symptoms of mental disorders, epilepsy, asthma, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. Also marijuana can help ease menstrual pain and reduce the risk of obesity and diabetes.
Earlier, several EU countries have legalized the medical use of some form of cannabis or cannabinoids or are considering amending their legislation.
