The epidemic of the coronavirus: the first infected COVID-19 recorded in Iceland
KIEV. 28 Feb. UNN. The Ministry of health of Iceland has confirmed the first case of infection by the coronavirus in the country. It is reported by UNN citing local newspaper Fréttablaðið and The Reykjavik Grapevine.
Coronavirus was found in a 50-year-old Icelander, who recently returned from the North of Italy, is in isolation at the hospital Landspitali.
“The man is not seriously ill, but gave a positive result on COVID-19, a virus which causes symptoms such as pain, fever and cough,” — said the local doctors.
According to media reports, health workers quickly and professionally reacted to the news by starting the investigation of the movements of the infected men between Northern Italy and his arrival in the hospital. Thus, they try to identify possible ways of transmission.
At the same time, the national police and the Department of civil defence of Iceland shall take measures to increase readiness to combat the virus. It is reported that at the moment it is not planned to impose bans on entry and exit from the country.
