According to the French company Helite, up to 40% of serious injuries received by cyclists, have the chest, and 25% on the spine. On this basis, the company’s specialists have developed for the bike lovers vest B Safe function of the airbag. The novelty introduced at CES-2019.
B Safe consists of two parts: a safety vest and an electronic unit, which is installed under the saddle of the bike. Vest responds to two types of accidents.
In the first case, triggered by the accelerometer of the electronic module, which actuates the motion sensor, integrated in the vest. If the sensor detects a fall from the bike, it activates the cartridge, filled with CO2, where the gas instantly fills the airbag vest. The entire process takes only 80 milliseconds.
In the fall, for example, on slippery road the motion sensor in the vest will react to the sudden change in the position of the cyclist and ensure system operation. The battery vest is enough for a week, and the battery electronic unit – for five years.
Vest B Safe will be available in two colors – black and yellow with reflective piping. In Europe and the U.S. it will be available in the spring at a price of $ 700.
