The Verkhovna Rada Committee on human rights, national minorities and interethnic relations adopted a decision to register the proposed non-governmental organizations, the bill to legalize the medical use of cannabis.

The decision was taken unanimously at the Committee meeting of may 15, reports “Ukrainian truth”.

The Chairman of the Committee member of the faction “Batkivschyna” Gregory Nemyria said that this is a precedent when the Committee decides on the outcome of the consideration of e-petitions “to regulate cannabis for science and medicine to protect the constitutional rights of citizens”, which gathered more than 25 thousand votes of support.

Member of the faction of political party “people’s front” George Legwinski explained that the working group supported the initiative of the authors of this petition.

“The decision of the working group, which we accepted, was as follows: we submit the bill, which was adopted in the first reading, taken from that base, we will continue to consider what is the vision of development of this direction”, – said the MP.

We will remind, on January 30 on the website of the Verkhovna Rada has registered a petition to amend the legislation so that cannabis can be used for medical and scientific purposes. The document received the required number of votes.

The head of the Ministry of health Suprun supported the petition and urged to promote the legalization of medical cannabis. Suprun explained that medical cannabis is used in such diseases as Alzheimer’s, cancer, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy.
