The Cabinet prepares large fines for drivers after an accident in Kharkov

The Cabinet develop a more rigid system of control of behavior and responsibility of the drivers to this could affect a reduction in the number of deaths in case of a road traffic accident. About this, commenting on resonant road accident in Kharkov, announced the Minister of infrastructure Vladimir Omelian in Facebook.

“Today, we have another discussion, in conjunction with the Ministry of interior, Ministry of health, Ministry of education, people’s deputies of measures to reduce to zero mortality rate on the Ukrainian roads. During the week they are consistent and start (act, – as amended) from 1 January 2018,” he said.

According to him, in addition to funding from the road Fund there are about 500 million UAH from the funds of the sectoral support of the EU for equipment the largest concentration of accidents in the country.

He recalled that a few months ago, officials of the Ministry of Infrastructure came out with an initiative to limit the speed limit in settlements is 50 km/h.

Omeljan said that at this speed are virtually eliminated deaths, max minor injuries.

“We said, “not the time, politically sensitive issue.” So, we insist that the 50 km/h and draconian fines for speeding, unfastened seat belt in the front and rear seats, lack of child seats when transporting children, use of mobile media hands-free. The obligatory photo – and video fixing of violations, and “chain letters”, deprivation of rights for driving while intoxicated,” added Omeljan.

18 October at about 20:45 in Kharkiv on Sumskaya street has occurred a large road accident: five people were killed and six injured. Driving the Lexus was 20-year-old girl Elena Zaitseva, she was not drunk.

The driver of the Lexus is now in a temporary detention center.
