The operator of the gas transportation system of Ukraine the state company “Ukrtransgaz” has stopped pumping natural gas to four of the ten underground gas storage (UGS) in connection with the achievement of the planned volume for the current year, the company said.

“Technical support for the process of natural gas injection into UGS is one of the main tasks in the preparation for the heating season 2019-2020 today the gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities is 17.4 billion cubic meters of gas, which is the highest rate since 2012,” – noted in the company.
According to information a press-services, now more than 270 companies use the services of “Ukrtransgaz” for the storage of volumes of gas in underground storage facilities in normal mode and in the mode of a customs warehouse. Compared to last year, the number of such companies increased by 40%.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in the beginning of the season of pumping natural gas into underground gas storage facilities on April 5. The government plans to start the heating season in mid-October, to accumulate in underground storage more than 20 billion cubic meters of gas that will allow you to safely survive the winter.

Next year, the Russian Federation can significantly reduce gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system through the construction of a pipeline to bypass our country, “Nord stream-2”. “Ukrtransgaz” operates 12 underground gas storage facilities total active capacity of about 31 billion cubic meters of Underground gas storage facilities are an integral part of the gas supply system of Ukraine and gas transit through its territory. The company also is the operator of the main pipelines through which natural gas comes from the Russian Federation to the EU and imported to Ukraine from EU countries.
