If you find that Belgian the major worked on Russia, the investigation will be an echo of the case of Herman SIMM, an employee of the Ministry of defence of Estonia, who was convicted for espionage in favor of Russia in 2009.
The main task of ADIV is the protection of military secrets in Belgium and abroad. Brussels is also home to the EU institutions and the headquarters of NATO.
They should be protected by the Belgian civilian intelligence service, the VSSE and their internal services.
But Russian penetration of ADIV will pose a threat to the safety of everyone, as shown by the case of Estonia 10 years ago when SIMM leaked 386 files associated with the EU and NATO, some of which were classified as “confidential” and “secret”.
As reported UNN, earlier in Estonia, two men are 38-year-old Denis Metsavan and his 65-year-old father Peter Wolin – were found guilty of treason and transfer of internal information to Moscow.
