”Today, the transit of Russian gas is 0, this is one of Moscow’s biggest defeats,” Zelensky

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has spoken about stopping the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine.

Today, on January 1, for the first time in many decades, the transit of Russian gas to Europe via the Ukrainian pipeline was stopped. Kiev categorically refused to sign a new contract with the aggressor country.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on this historic event on his official Telegram account.

The President stated that Russia had lost the so-called “gas war.”

When Putin was given power in Russia more than 25 years ago, the annual gas pumping to Europe through Ukraine amounted to 130+ billion cubic meters. Today, the transit of Russian gas is 0,” Zelensky wrote. He called what was happening “one of the biggest defeats” of the Putin regime.

The President noted that the European market was the most attractive for Russia both financially and geographically. The aggressive foreign policy of the dictator of the Russian Federation has led to the fact that today he is lost. The West is tired of Moscow’s energy blackmail.

Zelensky also drew attention to the fact that most European countries were able to adapt quickly enough to the withdrawal of a large supplier from their market. New energy suppliers have been found and supplies have been diversified.

However, there are still several countries that have been severely affected by the termination of Ukrainian transit. The first is Moldova, which has yet to undergo an energy transformation. Zelensky called on Western partners and allies to help it maintain stability.

We must also withstand the hysteria of some European politicians who prefer mafia schemes with Moscow instead of a transparent energy policy,” the Ukrainian leader wrote. It is no secret that he is talking about the authorities of Hungary and Slovakia.

Zelensky expressed the hope that US President-elect Donald Trump would increase American gas supplies to Europe. This will allow the region to quickly cope with the negative consequences of abandoning gas dependence on Russia.

Previously Dialog.UA reported that Fico threatens the EU with “dramatic consequences” due to the suspension of Ukrainian gas transit to the Russian Federation.
