Against two men who were detained by Russian security forces in the occupied Crimea after a search in the village Novoklenove (August 10), torture including use of electric current. “They are not citizens of Russia, so they don’t want their names sounded… According to them, when they were detained after a search, the two brothers were subjected to torture. Troops were tied to chairs and beaten. Kicked, beaten not one, and at the end they were tortured with electric current. In the place which it is indecent to speak, they stuck a metal object and allowed an electric current. So did twelve times. Then they were scared that no one was informed about torture”, – transferred words of the detained human rights activist.
Information was also confirmed at the meeting, the lawyer Eden Semelai.
“This man told me that he beat him with skill, so as not to leave traces,” said the lawyer.
At the meeting, the activists noted that the shock torture is “not the first case in the Crimea.” The attitude of the Russian power departments of Crimea on this issue.
On the morning of 10 August by armed Russian security forces blocked one of the streets in the village Novoklenove Belogorskiy district of Crimea. In one of the houses of the village
was searched. As it became known, after the search, the father and middle son left the territory of the Peninsula, the youngest son was arrested for 15 days, the eldest son returned home.
After the Russian annexation in Crimea increased mass searches of independent journalists, civil society activists, activists of Crimean Tatar national movement, members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and Crimean Muslims
suspected of having links with the banned in Russia organization Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Russia has occupied the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 2014 year. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially declared on 20 February 2014 beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. Key international organizations, including the UN General Assembly has condemned Russia’s actions and called the annexation and occupation of Crimea illegal. Against Russia were imposed economic sanctions. For the implementation by Moscow of the so-called elections with the participation of the Crimea in 2016-m to year the Parliament of Ukraine recognized the Russian state Duma is illegitimate.
