Employees of the security Service of Ukraine under the procedural management of Prosecutor’s office detained Kharkiv, recruited by special services of the Russian Federation for carrying out subversive activities against our country.

In particular, employees of counterintelligence of SBU established that during a trip to Russia for the purpose of employment, the employee of one of the state scientific institutions of Kharkiv was recruited by a hostile intelligence Agency.

“For a reward the man agreed to gather information on places of a dislocation of military units on the territory of the region, they belong to a particular kind of troops, personal data military APU and the place of service. Received information he had to convey to the curators via the electronic communication channels”, – stated in the message.

According to the Agency, back in Ukraine, the man immediately came to the attention of the security Services and was under the supervision of law enforcement officers.

“In the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, the investigators documented the attacker collect personal information about the participants of anti-terrorist operation from among the staff of its public enterprises. But to complete a criminal job he failed. On the eve of the transfer abroad the data collected, the attacker was detained by militiamen”, – noted in SBU.

During a search at the place of residence of the Kharkiv law enforcement officers seized electronic media with personal data of soldiers APU, confirming his criminal activity.

In SBU added that according to experts on state secrets, withheld information relates to defence of Ukraine and has the stamp restricting access “for official use”. Transfer to special services of the Russian Federation could harm the public interest.

In the framework of criminal proceedings opened under article 14 and part 1 of article 111, the detainee declared suspicion. Investigations are continuing.
