The presidents of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky had a phone conversation, during which discussed the Ukrainian crisis.

During the conversation, which took place at the initiative of Kyiv, the sides noted the need for more effective efforts within the Minsk contact group.

Meanwhile, Putin noted that the decision of 15 July, the Verkhovna Rada resolution on holding the local elections in 2020 contrary to the Minsk agreements and compromises prospects for settlement.

“In addition, expressed serious concern over the recent statements of senior officials of Ukraine on the inadmissibility of certain provisions of the package of measures and the need for its revision,” — said in the Kremlin.

As said the Russian leader voiced Zelensky position on “no alternative to the Minsk arrangements” must find their confirmation in the real actions of the Kiev authorities.

Putin also Zelensky and exchanged views on the situation with the pandemic coronavirus.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said that the Minsk agreement is largely irrelevant.

As noted in the Kremlin, in the case of Kyiv’s withdrawal from the agreements create a new database to resolve the situation in the region will be difficult.
