On Wednesday, October 30, heavy rains hit the Spanish region of Valencia, causing widespread flooding. In a few hours, precipitation levels reached an annual norm of 491 mm, which caused violent water flows that flooded streets, damaged roads and caused a massive power outage. About 120 thousand houses and apartments were without electricity.
The destructive elements washed cars off the streets and flooded residential buildings. According to official data, at least 95 people have become victims of the flood, and dozens are missing.
Fire and police services are continuing search and rescue operations, hoping to find survivors. They involve more than 1,000 people, including divers, who are ready to search in the most flooded areas.
The Spanish authorities have declared three days of national mourning in memory of the victims.
Neighboring countries have offered their help to the country. Germany, Portugal, Belgium and France are ready to provide the necessary equipment and rescuers to deal with the consequences of the flood.
The natural disaster has caused serious damage to the infrastructure of Valencia, and the restoration work is projected to take a long time.
Earlier Dialog.UA reported that Spain was hit by deadly flooding and hail the size of a tennis ball.
It should also be recalled that heavy rains caused widespread flooding in Italy and Central France.
