Poroshenko enacted NSDC decision on strengthening cybersecurity

President Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense on measures to strengthen cybersecurity. This is stated in the presidential decree No. 254 dated 30 August, the press service of the head of state.

“To enact the decision of national security Council and defense of Ukraine of July 10, 2017 “On the status of implementation of decisions of the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine from December 29, 2016 “About the threats of cyber security of state and urgent measures to neutralize them,” – said in it.

According to the decision, the Cabinet Ministers will undertake during the year, the financing costs for the design of secure data center to host the state electronic information resources and to take measures on creation and functioning of National center of operational and technical management of telecommunication networks.

Within three months the government requested to resolve the issue of prohibiting government agencies, enterprises, institutions and organizations to enter into contracts and purchase services of Internet access providers that do not have the documents on conformity assessment system of information security requirements.

Within six months the Cabinet is tasked to provide financing of expenses on modernization of situational centers on cyber security of the security Service of Ukraine and the State service for special communication and information protection.

SBU administration of State special communication service and the National police was instructed to immediately strengthen the collaboration with foreign partners to combat cyber attacks on critical information infrastructure, the investigation of such cyber-attacks, identifying the causes and conditions of their fulfilment, as well as to attract international technical assistance to ensure the cyber security of state electronic information resources, and critical infrastructure.
