Police found 60 thousand liters of smuggled alcohol in the Odessa region

ODESSA-KIEV. 21 Nov. UNN. During carrying out the authorized searches in the warehouses of Odessa law enforcement authorities found alcohol. About it the correspondent of UNN reported in the Department for the protection of the economy in Odessa region.

“Law enforcement officers found 8 cars, inside of which was 60 thousand liters of ethyl alcohol and equipment for the transfer of excisable products. According to preliminary data the value of the seized products is 2 million UAH. It is established that the product was imported into Ukraine from the territory of neighboring States”, — stated in the message.

On this fact initiated Criminal proceedings under part 2 St. 364 (abuse of power or official position).

Recall that every second bottle of alcohol in Ukraine is counterfeit, that is, an illegal product made from illegal alcohol, diluted with water strange, with a strange label and without paying excise taxes. In this business, according to the journalist O. Dubinsky, monthly Supervisory authorities earn $ 9 million.

We will add that on the eve of the Cabinet of Ministers introduced to the Parliament a bill which proposed to raise the excise tax on alcoholic beverages by 11.2%.

According to experts, in case of further increasing excise taxes on alcohol, 90% of the market will be in the shade.

As reported UNN, the tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada refused to raise excise taxes on alcohol.
