Pandemic coronavirus was the cause of the cancellation of the world Cup 2020 figure skating and short track
KIEV. April 17. UNN. The world figure skating Championships, which was to be held in March 2020, in Montreal (Canada), finally abolished. This decision was taken by the Council of the International skating Union (ISU), reported in the statement of the organization, reports UNN citing the website of the figure skating Federation of Ukraine.
“Given the growing adverse events associated with the spread COVID-19, the consequences of the tragedy in the world and measures taken by public authorities, as well as logistical challenges, the Council of the ISU during your online meeting of April 16 came to the conclusion about impossibility of transfer of the ISU Championships 2020”, — said in a statement.
Thus, by decision of the Council should be “definitely abolished”, the following ISU Championships:
— world Cup short track in Seoul (13-15 March 2020)
— the world figure skating Championships in Montreal (March 16-22, 2020)
world Championships in synchronized skating in lake placedo (3-5 April 2020).
It should be noted that on 28 April, the ISU Council will hold a meeting on planning of the 2020/2021 season, which will consider various scenarios of events related to COVID-19 and their impact on the ISU calendar.
