One hundred police officers arrested in southern Mexico on suspicion of murder and torture

All police of a small municipality of Huixtla in Chiapas, in southern Mexico, was arrested on suspicion of murder, torture and corruption. In total we are talking about 100 guardians of order, announced on Thursday the radio station Noticias MVS with reference to regional Prosecutor’s office.
Among the detainees was the head of the Department of public safety and the chief of the municipal police. To date, eight policemen were charged with committing grave and especially grave crimes. Two police officers during the search of seized weapons used in the army, which they possessed illegally.
The task of ensuring security in Whistle currently vested in the state government, reports TASS.

Mexico in the last few years has experienced unprecedented violence. Last year in the country killed more than 33.3 per thousand people, this year the situation continues to deteriorate. According to official data, from January to March fell victim to the criminals in excess of 8.73 thousand people, almost 9% more than in the same period of 2018.
In early April of this year the President of Mexico, andrés Manuel lópez Obrador recognized the “difficulty” in the fight against crime. He also said that the authorities will have to spend more time than they expected to improve the situation in the security sphere.
