Officials in Odessa region have stolen 1 million UAH of social assistance for low-income families
Payments were made out on figureheads
In Odessa region law enforcement authorities exposed a criminal group that embezzled over 1 million UAH of social assistance, which was intended for low-income families. This was reported by the press service of the regional Prosecutor’s office.
“To get social assistance to poor families of the suspects offered to the persons who are registered and reside in the territory of the district, to provide your personal information to process financial aid. It should be noted that the legal grounds for receiving social assistance, these citizens did not have”, – stated in the message.
After obtaining public assistance recipients give half to the organizer of criminal group. Within a few years were unjustly executed social payments to 17 individuals.
Now three members of the criminal group were announced suspicion of misappropriation of property through abuse of official position committed in especially large amounts (part 5, article 191 of the criminal code of Ukraine). Among them the former head of Department acting head of Department and the main specialist.
