Julia Savinovskih, which has the guardianship of Yekaterinburg took foster children because of suspicions that it wants a sex change, filed a complaint with the European court of human rights (ECHR). This “Medusa” said the lawyer of the International human rights group “Agora” Natasha Dobreva.

The complaint stated that the actions of Russian authorities against Savinovskih violate articles of the European Convention on human rights on the right to respect for private and family life and prohibition of discrimination. “The decision on the withdrawal of children must be based on verification of parental abilities after studying the provisions of the children themselves. But not solely on the basis of gender identity, as in this case,” said Dobreva.

The seizure of children from families Savinovskih became known in September 2017. The guardianship decided to pick up two foster sons after Yulia had an operation for breast reduction.
