Lukashenko wants to legalize bitcoin in Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting with representatives of business have declared that has signed the decree “On the development of the digital economy”, which aims to attract global IT companies. He, in particular, to legalize the operations with cryptocurrency in the country, reports UNN with reference to the official Internet portal of the President of Belarus.
“This is a natural, life changing. We are even in the early years could not speak about any enterprise, the block chain and this new cryptocurrency. And today it becomes a reality. Therefore, life and, of course, the regulatory framework will change,” – said Lukashenko.
According to him, the main purpose of the document – Belarus to attract global IT companies who have opened their representative offices, development centers, and created the world that needs the product.
“The second purpose of the decree – investment in the future. Is IT talent and education. Third – the introduction of new financial instruments and technology. Leading economies of the world still look to this new phenomenon. Belarus becomes the first country in the world, which opens up opportunities for the use of blockchain technology. We have all chances to become a regional centre of expertise in this area,” – said Lukashenko.
The President noted that with the adoption of the decree in Belarus not only will create conditions for the development of IT-sphere, but will have a unique competitive advantage for attracting technology, capital and, most importantly, smart and talented people from around the world.
“This decree next to the package for business should enable Belarus to take the path of rapid development”, – said Alexander Lukashenko.
Officially, the decree has not yet been made public, however, the Belarusian BelTA reported that in the first place, the decree legalized the cryptocurrency and conduct of the ICO (initial placement of coins).
