For 2018 Ukraine will allocate 72 million UAH for conducting Antarctic program.
This was announced by the Minister of education and science of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych, reports UKRINFORM.
March 21 was held the ceremony of sending the 23-th Ukrainian Antarctic expedition on an annual wintering at the station “Akademik Vernadsky”.
“From the government of Ukraine I would like to highlight how this important program for Ukraine, for its future, to ensure that we were fully-fledged international player in a number of international programmes related to climate, water supply, natural resources, which will be open perhaps even to the immediate future of humanity as a whole on this planet,” – said Grinevich.

She stressed that Ukraine has 22 consecutive years, continues its Antarctic program, and is included in the “elite club of 30 countries with its own station, which is a lot of research.”
“All Antarctic programme for the year is 72 million. And to the credit of the centre, I must say that they succeeded in the result of conducted tender procedures to save a certain part of funds that we want to invest in the improvement of station”, – said the Minister.
