Former Vice-President of the USA Democrat Joseph Biden for the first day after formally joining the struggle for the highest office in the country attracted about 6.3 million dollars in donations for the election campaign, reports TASS with reference to the newspaper The Wall Street Journal.

The money donated approximately 97 thousand individuals or entities, said the publication of the representatives of the election headquarters policy. Thus, Biden, on the amount of collected funds managed to beat the other Democrats who have declared their intention to apply for the post of President of the United States.

For example, U.S. Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders for the first day after its official entry into the race managed to attract around 5.9 million dollars in donations, and former us Congressman from Texas, Beto O’rourke of 6.1 million dollars.

Biden announced the official entry into the race Thursday. According to opinion polls, at the moment he is considered one of the favorites among representatives of the Democratic party.

Intention to run for President said about two dozen Democrats. The Democratic Convention, which will nominate a candidate for President, will be held from 13 to 16 July 2020 in Milwaukee (Wisconsin). Republicans will hold their Convention from 24 to 27 August 2020, in Charlotte (North Carolina).
