In the document of the Italian regulator of 22 March indicated that the application for the flights with the same frequency — twice a week — has filed two carrier — Ernest Airlines Odessa-Rome on Ryanair Kiev-Bergamo, writes avianews.com.

During the contest the right to perform flights ENAC provided Ernest Airlines, as the carrier in the tender received 60 points, while his competitor from Ireland — 57 points.

The decision specified that Ernest Airlines flights will be able to start on April 19.

Recall that in November 2018 commercial Director of Ryanair, David O’brien said that the low-cost airline applied for flights from the three cities of Italy to Ukraine and expected to open flights in 2019, however, encountered difficulties because of the position of the Italian authorities.

“For example, in Italy, we went on routes from Bologna, Pisa and Milan. Instead, the government gave the company permission, about which we heard nothing from the two planes that will fly to Ukraine. We filed a lawsuit in Italy and won it. The court felt that it was unwise to provide such an important field such a small airline. I hope next year will begin to fly,” said O’brien, alluding to Ernest Airlines.

Currently the route network of Ryanair from Ukraine does not include any of the Italian direction. On March 26, the low-cost airline has announced the launch in 2019 flights from Kharkov to Krakow and Vilnius, as well as from Odessa to Krakow, Katowice, Wroclaw and Berlin.
