The an-124 and Il-62 with Russian military personnel and 35 tons of cargo arrived Saturday in serving Caracas international airport Maiquetia simón bolívar. On Sunday, according to TASS, told the newspaper Comercio.
The paper argues that it is about 99 military, their head the magazine says the chief of the Main organizational-mobilization Department of the General staff of armed forces Colonel-General Vasily by Tonkoshkura.
As notes the edition, on arrival they were met by the head of Department of international relations and integration of Venezuela, Marianne Mata, representative of the National guard of Venezuela Edgar Colin Reyes and members of the Russian diplomatic mission in Caracas.
According to the newspaper, on the way to Venezuela the aircraft made two transfers – in Damascus and Dakar.
Venezuela in recent years are experiencing acute socio-economic and political crisis. 23 January, the Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guido declared himself acting President of the country. The interim head of state recognized by the US, joined the country’s Group Lima (except Mexico), the Organization of American States and most EU countries.
Maduro called the incident a coup attempt. It was supported by Russia, Belarus, Bolivia, Iran, China, Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Syria and Turkey.
