The representative of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the government Andriy Gerus reported the development of measures to reduce electricity prices for population by 20%.
“If these three measures to implement, can get a reduction of tariff for all consumers of about 20% — large, medium and small businesses, budgetary institutions and organizations, kindergartens and schools,” he said in a briefing broadcast which led channel NEWSONE.
In particular, it is proposed to introduce special obligations on reduction of tariffs of the companies “Ukrhydroenergo” and “Energoatom”.
In addition, according Gerus, change upper limits of prices of electricity on the market.
“There is little sense to increase the price of the night… about 10%. And day to reduce the price, because it is much higher than in all countries of Europe… can be reduced by 20%. Thus, it can provide an additional reduction in the final tariff for the consumer by 9%”, — he said.
He also urged to monitor coal stocks in the warehouses in preparation for the heating season.
“You can’t use the coal reserves in the warehouses as a method of blackmail for the sake of high tariffs. We wish it is not repeated and the company holding a sufficient volume of coal in storage,” concluded the representative Zelensky.
Earlier Gerus admitted the shortage of electricity in Ukraine and the growth of tariffs for Ukrainian consumers.
In June, Zelensky introduced to the Verkhovna Rada a bill to reduce electricity prices for Ukrainians.
