In Ukraine over the past week with measles is sick, 783 persons, which is 5% less compared to the previous week, in the Odessa region dead baby. This was at the briefing on situation with measles in said General Director of the Centre for public health, Ministry of health Mr Kurpita, UKRINFORM reported.

“According to operational data of the Centre for public health, 8 weeks of 2018 with measles is sick, 783 persons, of which 294 adults and 489 children. This is 5% less than the previous week, and we can say that the situation with measles in Ukraine has stabilized. We’re not talking about reduction of incidence, but of the stabilization process,” he said.

According to Kurpaty, from the beginning, from complications from measles has died, seven people – five children and two adults. Five patients died in the Odessa region, one child in Ivano-Frankivsk region, one person in the Transcarpathian region.

“Since the last briefing was in seven deaths this year – dead baby in the Odessa region, who lived only a few hours after birth. Mother during pregnancy had measles were hospitalized, but a day voluntarily left the Department. Now we find out all the causes of death of the newborn child,” said Kurpyta.

Overall, according to the health Ministry within eight weeks from the beginning of the year measles was ill 5839 people, of which 1981 3858 adult and children. In medical institutions hospitalized 3 945 patients.

Kurpita reported that most patients with measles registered in the Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1204, Transcarpathian – 980, Odessa – 965, Chernivtsi – 594 and Lviv regions – 411 case.

Less likely to get sick with measles in Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions – three cases in Sumy and Luhansk – four cases in Cherkasy and Kherson regions, 14 cases of measles.
