The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Sweden and Iceland commented about a possible boycott of the countries of the 2018 world Cup. Earlier it was reported that the Scandinavians can join the boycott and refuse to submit to the tournament officials.

According to RBC, the head of the press service of the foreign Ministry of Sweden Patrick Nielsen stated that the authorities have not yet made a decision about whether the country is represented “at the political level” for the 2018 world Cup.

In turn, the foreign Ministry of Iceland has assured that the national team will take part in the world Cup matches.

– No talk about the fact that the team is boycotting the championship, was not, – said the press attache of the Ministry of Sven Gudmarsson. – The Icelandic government has not taken any decisions on possible actions in connection with the attack in Salisbury, but will monitor the situation and consult with our closest neighbors and allies.

Earlier, Prime Minister Theresa may said that the country will lower the level of delegation to the world Cup due to allegations of Russia’s involvement in the poisoning of ex-GRU officer Sergei Skripal. Russia will not go to high-ranking officials and representatives of the Royal family.
