In sums of two doctors suspected in the case of torture of patients

The Prosecutor’s office of the Sumy area reported about suspicion to two more doctors involved in the torture of patients of Regional psychiatric hospital No. 2, which resulted in the death of several of them. Reports a press about it-service of Prosecutor’s office.

In particular, the message on suspicion of improper performance of their professional duties due to careless attitude to them, which caused grave consequences (paragraph 1 of article 140 of the criminal code), announced the head of the psychiatric-diagnostic Department.

Also it is reported about suspicion in the drawing up of false official documents to the head of morbid anatomy Department of the municipal enterprises Akhtyrka Central hospital (part 1 of article 366 of the criminal code).

In Prosecutor’s office noted that according to conclusions it is judicial-medical examinations the results of the exhumation found that the physician-pathologist of the highest qualification category has not conducted a full postmortem of four bodies with research of all cavities of bodies and internal organs. She also intentionally made up false protocols in post-mortem examinations, indicating false reasons of the death of patients.

Earlier the chief doctor of the hospital was handed a notice of suspicion under part 1 of article 127 (torture is the intentional infliction of physical or moral suffering by way of chastisement for the purpose of discrimination) and part 3 of article 135 (abandonment in danger, which entailed death) the criminal code.

During the investigation it was found that five patients died of pneumonia caused by hypothermia, even in one deceased patient discovered craniocerebral trauma with fracture of all ribs.

On 3 March the court decided to take the ex-the head physician of the hospital into custody.
