In the Russian Severomorsk, the main base of Northern fleet of the armed forces on 1 July, a fire occurred at a top-secret submarine as-12, known as “Losharik”. 14 sailors were killed and another 5 people are now fighting for their lives.

A state of emergency on the “Losharik” happened on Monday, July 1. The defense Ministry issued a statement on the matter only through the day.

As-12 consists of multiple titanium spheres connected to each other. The submarine can dive to a depth of six thousand meters and to develop underwater speed of 30 knots. The crew of the submarine is 25.
Specifications as-12 is classified. Presumably, it has a length of 79 meters, width 7 meters, and its total displacement is about two thousand tons. The name “Losharik” was in honor of hero of the Soviet cartoon — horses of the balls.
