In Odessa, the independence Day of Ukraine broke the bust of Marshal Zhukov

Unknown in the night of August 24 broke the bust of Marshal Zhukov in Odessa, is reported in Facebook the police of the Odessa region of Ukraine.
The bust was at the intersection of Marshal Zhukov Avenue (now Avenue of the Heavenly hundred) and street of Academician Glushko, fragments of the monument was discovered in the Central part of Odessa on Devolanovsky descent, according to police. They were taken to the Tairovsky Department and attached to materials of criminal proceedings initiated on the fact of destruction of the monument. A criminal case was opened under part 1 of article 296 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (hooliganism).
Eyewitnesses told the police that unknown persons knocked down with a four-foot granite pedestal is a monument in the form of a bust of Marshal Zhukov, loaded it in the car Mercedes-Benz Vito is black in colour and left in an unknown direction.
“Duma” informs that the monument was destroyed by the activists of the Patriotic organizations. It was removed from the pedestal, took on the ownership of the bridge and hung over Devolanovsky slope (Ditch). Then it smashed with a sledgehammer.
Police involved in the crime.
The correspondent of the Ukrainian news service Gleb Gromov published in Facebook photos of the fallen bust. “Was the Marshal, and now there is. Independence day all”, – the journalist wrote.
This is not the first incident connected with the name of Marshal Zhukov in Odessa. Almost a year ago on August 15, 2016, unknown, destroyed the memorial plaque Georgy Zhukov on the wall of a house on Noble street, where he lived, captain. And 8 may 2017 it was reported that housing and communal services dismantled the Foundation stone on the site of the planned monument to Zhukov.
In addition, in April 2017 “patriots” defaced the plaque Zhukov attached to the building of the regional police station the next day tumbled down a memorial stone in the area of market “Success”, and on may 9 next the hooligans painted paint the same pedestal, which suffered today, according to Ukrainian information service.
Georgy Zhukov – an outstanding Soviet military commander, Marshal of the Soviet Union. Under his leadership, conducted the defence of Leningrad and the defeat of Nazi troops near Moscow during the great Patriotic war. 24 Jun 1945, Zhukov took the Parade of Victory in Moscow. After the war, Zhukov held the position of commander of Land forces of the Armed forces of the Soviet Union, commanded the troops of the Odessa and Ural military districts.
