In Odessa region the judge received seven years in prison for bribery

“According to the materials of the SBU, Ulyanovsk court of Kirovograd region has increased the first instance verdict and sentenced to seven years in prison for bribery, a judge of the court Savransky of Odessa oblast, and the Secretary of the same court to five years”, – stated in the message.
Employees of SBU together with the Prosecutor General’s office detained the judge and the court reporter, in 2013 when receiving a bribe. The police said that the judge demanded $5 thousand from his wife defendant of drug trafficking, instead of promising to impose a sentence without imprisonment.
The court found the attackers guilty under part 4 of article 368 (receiving a bribe) criminal code of Ukraine, and sentenced to seven years imprisonment with disqualification to hold positions related to the administration of justice for a period of three years and with confiscation of all property belonging to the state. Court clerk sentenced to five years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the civil service for a period of one year, with confiscation of property.
The case was heard again because the first instance verdict was cancelled by the court of Appeal. The sentence came into legal force.
21 September 2017 employees of SBU together with the Prosecutor General’s office exposed , two judges from Dnipropetrovsk region, who suggested a bribe of $300 thousand to the head of the Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office.
