In Odessa region officials stole 1 million UAH of social assistance

Law enforcers have exposed the criminal group which structure included officials of the Department of district administration. Criminals have appropriated more than one million hryvnias of social assistance for low-income families, the press service of the Prosecutor of Odessa region.

July 7 three members of a criminal group was notified of a suspicion under part 5 article 191 (Misappropriation of property through abuse of official position made in especially large sizes) the criminal code.

Among them – the chief of Department and chief specialist of the state administration, and a former head of the Department.

Prosecutors found that the suspects offered to the persons who are registered and reside in the territory of the district, to provide your personal data for issuing material assistance to the poor. Thus the legal grounds for assistance, these citizens had. After receiving help they had to give half to the organizer of criminal group.

For several years, the attackers wrongly issued social benefits to persons 17. The criminal group embezzled 1 million UAH from the state budget funds.
