Today the Kyiv district court of Odessa has arrested the driver of the BMW X5, which on the night of April 1, knocked on the side marching from the polling station, two women who were election observers, one of them died.

As reported the UNIAN in court, the district court received the petition for election measures of restraint the man suspected of committing a fatal accident in the village of Kuchurgan, Odessa region.

Under the version of militiamen, the night the driver of the BMW X5, moving down the street, grossly violated traffic Rules.

In particular, he was distracted from driving, left the roadway and made arrival on two pedestrians who were walking on the roadside. From the received traumas one of the women died on the spot, one seriously injured.

“According to the medical report, during operation of the machine the driver was in a condition of alcoholic intoxication,” – said in court.

Having considered the request of the law enforcement authorities about the arrest, the investigating judge granted it. The suspect elected a measure of restraint in form of detention for a period of 60 days without an alternative of bail.

As reported the UNIAN, the representative of law enforcement, both women were observers at the polling station from which they were returning that night.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on the night of April 1 in the Razdelnyansky region of Odessa region 31-the summer driver of BMW X5 was hit on the side of two female pedestrians, resulting in a 59-year-old victim died on the spot, the second, born in 1961, is hospitalized in serious condition.

The scene the driver fled. A few hours later the police detained the offender, who, leaving his car in a field near the neighboring settlement, came home on foot.

On this fact initiated criminal proceedings under part 2 of article 286 (violation of traffic safety) the Criminal code of Ukraine.
