In the hotel-office complex in the Kenyan capital Nairobi there was a terrorist attack, which killed at least 15 people and about 30 wounded. The commandos were evacuated from the building about 50 citizens.

The attack on the complex, Dusit hotel, banks and office buildings occurred at about 15:00 on January 16 (time coincides with Moscow). First in the Parking lot near the complex there was an explosion, then at least four militants entered the hotel and began shooting, reports Reuters. In the lobby of the building, a suicide bomber detonated another bomb.

Among the victims of the 11 Kenyans, Americans and British. Many visitors to the complex during the attack, had dinner in the restaurant, the bodies of the dead commandos were found lying on the tables. According to an employee of the morgue, identified 13 victims. Several dozen people for several hours was blocked in the house. Later, police evacuated about 50 people.

A source told Reuters that the shooting resumed around 6:00 a.m. on January 16 at 7:00 also periodically heard the shots. Moreover, the new explosion and the gunfire began after the Ministry of internal Affairs of Kenya reported a full sweep of the premises from the militants and proclaimed security for the population, notes the AP. Details about the fate of the attackers was not reported.

Authorities have classified the attack as a terrorist attack, took responsibility for it, the radical Islamist group “Al-Shabab”*. In 2013, its members committed the attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, killing 67 people. In 2015, the group associated with “al-Qaeda”*, carried out the attack in Kenya University Garissa in 2015, which killed 147 people, mostly students.
