In Kharkov was a new case of botulism

In Kharkov has registered a new case of botulism. It is reported by the regional laboratory center of the Ministry of health.

“The investigation established that the young man, 1993 year of birth, used cleaned dried roach, which, according to the patient, he bought the Warm sea, located on the street of Marshal Konev, 2nd The first symptoms (sudden weakness, dry mouth, shortness of breath) appeared after about 20 hours after eating fish”, – is spoken in the message.

The patient was hospitalized in intensive care and entered a multivalent botulinum toxin. Doctors assess the patient’s condition as moderate.

In Ukraine as of 18 July YTD botulism sick 90 people, nine of them died. Eight of the nine deaths was ill due to consumption of dried fish.

In early July, the UN development Programme in Ukraine was introduced 25 courses of antitoxin against botulism. Up to this point in the country was not drugs for specific treatment of botulism in 2014.
